About the area #

Bridgewater, Gagebrook and Herdsmans Cove were developed in the 1970s with a focus on affordable public housing.

The area is 15km north of Hobart in the Brighton Council area. It is a picturesque part of Tasmania with great views of kunanyi/Mt Wellington and the Derwent and Jordan Rivers.

Centacare Evolve Housing is, together with Brighton Council, developing new homes in line with the Bridgewater, Gagebrook and Herdsmans Cove Master Plan which guides how land and housing can be developed for the enjoyment of residents.

We're building 300+ more houses #

Over the next three years Centacare Evolve Housing will be building hundreds more properties in the Bridgewater, Gagebrook and Herdsmans Cove areas. About one third of these will become available for purchase, while the remainder will be managed as social or affordable housing properties.

The Bridgewater, Gagebrook and Herdsmans Cove area has a diversity of housing products that Centacare Evolve Housing is delivering to the community.

Nearing completion there are 16 modern two and three bedroom units located in a prominent position backing onto the East Derwent Highway. These architecturally-designed units provide a unique range of external finishes including brick, render and feature cladding providing excellent street appeal. Internally, the units have easy-living floor plans, 2.7m ceilings creating a feeling of space and a neutral colour palette. Works have also started on the other side of the road as Stage 2 of the development. These 23 units will continue the theme of modern, easy living that is close to shops and services.
